The Civil Department focuses on the specialized engineering discipline that relates to general civil, site civil, stormwater planning and management, parking lots, drives and sidewalks, subdivision and site development, and miscellaneous engineering needs not specifically related to transportation or public utilities.
Our work includes projects for public sector clients, state and not-for-profit agencies, universities and school districts, residential, commercial, and industrial clients. Throughout the years, MECO has assisted our clients in the planning, application, design and construction of a variety of surface enhancement projects with many financed through the various MoDOT Enhancement Programs throughout the years.
MECO led this project, which consisted of the design of six (6) soccer fields, five (5) of which were covered with artificial turf and one (1) with natural grass championship field. Project consisted of lighting, water, stormwater, sidewalks, and seating. This project was completed in 2017.
MECO Engineering worked closely with the City of Barry on the project to develop Holy Redeemer Park, starting with the completion of a “Master Plan.” Project component included the conversion of existing church into a new Community Center, design and construction of new public restrooms, a new shelter house, installation of historic lighting around park site, and the planning, design and construction of new ADA walking trails throughout park. Other features include a new horseshoe pit, playground area with equipment, new lighting for the existing ball field, and signage throughout park. A bioswale provides for improved on-site stormwater management.
The City of Boonville, Missouri constructed a new water park and swimming pool last year to provide improved family recreational activities for the residents of the community. MECO provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering and design for the new ADA compliance Pool and Aquatic Facility, including HVAC, lighting (interior/exterior), chemical feed equipment, pump sizing, ADA accessible restrooms and shower facilities.
MECO worked closely with the new owners of the Pine Lakes Resort in Pittsfield, Illinois to design and construct new ADA accessible swimming pool facilities for the Resort. MECO prepared plans and specs for the swimming pool/spray ground facility and pool building, with the owner providing pool equipment installation drawings that were included with the final plans submitted to Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) for a pool construction permit. MECO also prepared a special flood hazard area permit.
MECO was commissioned by the City of Boonville to design a pocket park at the site of an abandoned lot at the corner of Morgan and Main. Site development required complete excavation of the site to remove decaying debris and replacement with new fill.
